It isn't a killer app until the entire software market say its one. You might be aiming at building a hit. Still, both of those things involve processes well beyond development.
I don't belive that cool has anything to do with it. Nor does identifying a problem have anything to do with what becomes a killer app. Everyone identifies a problem.
You should identify a paying client who will enable you to productize your technology within the context of their product visualization. Even so, you will be years away from a killer app.
Price is a dynamic and emergent thing. You cannot design a price into a product, because the pricing strategy will change, and pricing pressures will push your pricing down, or drive your company into an ever smaller and unsustainable market. Price happens.
